“Why
Peter Gill's 1968 play 'Over Gardens Out' hasn't
been professionally revived until now feels something
of a mystery after watching Andrew Steggall's striking
new staging. A gently revelatory snapshot of teenage
boyhood in 1960s Cardiff, this is beautifully understated
writing on the whole, with the emotional punch all
in the details……….. And in a lovely
bit of shoestring staging, typical of the show's
overall ethos with sheets on washing lines dividing
up the space and instantly establishing the workaday
milieu the boys mime inching
